In a thrilling finale that brought together the very best of British gastronomy, the Craft Guild of Chefs has officially revealed Danny Young from The Torridon in the Scottish Highlands as this year’s UK National Chef of the Year winner.
The winning menu from Danny included a starter of Native Lobster, Yuzu Beurre Blanc, N25 Caviar, a main course of Dry Aged Beef Fillet, Glazed Tongue, Beef Fat Onion, Potato, Truffle with a Valrhona Fruit & Nut “Tart”, Mascarpone, Pedro Ximénez for dessert. These dishes were served up on our Isla Wide Rim Bowl, Chefs’ Plates Walled Plate and Alchemy Ambience Wide Rimmed Plate.
Young National Chef of the Year
Keira Carolan from Henrock has wowed the judges and claimed the prestigious title of the Craft Guild of Chefs’ Young National Chef of the Year, after serving up three exceptional plates at the University of West London yesterday. Her winning menu included a starter of Monkfish, Mussels, Nasturtium and Preserved Tomato, a main course of Chicken, Foraged Mushrooms, Kales and Celeriac, with Preserved Strawberry, Apple Marigold, Sheep’s Yogurt and Honey for dessert.
Keira’s dishes were served up on a Dudson White Organic Coupe Bowl, Isla Walled Plate and Inked Delta Wide Rim Bowl. The judges felt the menu showcased creativity, strong technical skill and a deep understanding of flavour.
