Ceramic Industry Body Recognises Decarbonisation Efforts
The British Ceramics Confederation, which represents 90% of ceramics manufacturers in the UK, scrutinised actions taken by businesses in the industry towards a more sustainable future for ceramics manufacturing.
Sustainable Actions
It looked at a variety of metrics and specific actions being taken in each organisation to build a more sustainable future. It included measures already in place – for example, the solar panel project at Churchill which has seen over 4500 solar panels installed; involvement in collaborative ground-breaking research – such as the alternative fuel sources being explored for manufacturing processes; and lastly company culture where senior management buy in was seen as an essential component for making sustainable changes.
Commitment to sustainability vision
On being presented with the award Churchill was commended specifically for the vision and detail in creating short, medium and long-term plans alongside actions already taken.
