Churchill wins prestigious sustainability award

Churchill was awarded the Decarbonisation in Action award at a recent ceremony, acknowledging efforts towards making the UK ceramic sector a net zero industry.

The British Ceramics Conferderation, which represents 90% of ceramics manufacturers in the UK, scrutinised actions taken by businesses in the industry towards a more sustainable future for ceramics manufacturing.

It looked at a variety of metrics and specific actions being taken in each organisation to build a more sustainable future. It included measures already in place - for example, the solar panel project at Churchill which has seen over 4500 solar panels installed; involvement in collaborative ground-breaking research – such as the alternative fuel sources being explored for manufacturing processes; and lastly company culture where senior management buy in was seen as an essential component for making sustainable changes.

On being presented with the award Churchill was commended specifically for the vision and detail in creating short, medium and long-term plans alongside actions already taken.

Speaking about the award Sales and Marketing Director, James Roper said:

‘We are incredibly grateful to receive this award which recognises the hard work and dedication of the team. We continue to be a responsible manufacturer of world leading performance ceramics, investing in a sustainable future.'

'We're committed to achieving net zero by minimising our impact on the environment and continually striving to improve for all our stakeholders with an honest and transparent business culture.'
